Deniz Şenkan Bener (deniz.bener@bener.co.uk)

In 2000 she has graduated with an honours degree from the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at the Bosphorus University, which is one of the most prestigious universities in Turkey. Thereafter she worked in several multinational companies such as Henkel/Cognis Chemical Company and Levi Strauss as Financial Controller and Sales Forecast Manager respectively. She was with Levi Strauss until 2007. After giving birth to her second child, she started to work as a business consultant at Bener Consultancy Turkey. It was then that she decided to study law and in 2014 she graduated from Istanbul Bilgi Law Faculty, coming second in her class. She has been working at Bener Advisory Services since 2017 as a Consultant and Director. Due to her diversified professional background, she has the ability to sense the business needs of her clients and assist them from both a commercial and legal perspective. She is experienced in drafting/revising a variety of contracts and providing legal consultancy services. She is particularly experienced in the areas of employment, leasing and data protection. Deniz speaks fluent French and English in addition to Turkish, which is her native language.

She has a law degree from the University of Warwick, from which she graduated in 2002, and a Masters of Laws degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science, which she obtained in 2003. Following her education in the UK, she started to work for Pekin & Pekin Law Firm, a well-respected Turkish law firm, as a legal consultant. During her employment at Pekin & Pekin, she assisted multinational clients with mergers and acquisitions as well as privatisations, public-private partnerships and bids. She has also advised clients on compliance matters in regulated sectors and further contributed to the Doing Business 2009 report of the World Bank, in respect of business regulations in Turkey, prior to leaving Pekin&Pekin. In 2008 she took on a position at an energy and construction development project management company in Turkey, the Habboush Group, as the Director of Legal Affairs, during which she focused on renewable energy projects and investments from a legal and business perspective and supervised regulatory compliance. In 2010 she became self-employed as a free-lance consultant. In this respect, she has provided consultancy services to boutique law firms in Istanbul in several fields of law, including but not limited to, mergers and acquisitions, company law, employment law, contract law, capital markets law, commercial law, and regulatory compliance matters. Her experience in mergers and acquisitions, privatisation and regulatory compliance covers a wide range of sectors from telecommunications, energy, health, and retail to food beverages. As such, she has gained a considerable level of expertise in these sectors. In addition, she has been providing legal translation services to a number of well-respected law firms in Istanbul. She has been working at Bener Advisory Services since 2017 as a Consultant and Director. Hande speaks fluent English in addition to Turkish, which is her native language.
